It contains the first 10,000 most frequent Russian words including meanings and example usage starting with the most common and ending with words that occur one in 125,000. If you are going to learn vocab then it makes perfect sense to maximise your comprehension of conversation by concentrating on the frequent words rather than less frequent words.
