AudiaLearn Russian is a new audio course for advanced beginners and lower intermediate students - in other words, it is not for complete beginners, but you should already be familiar with basic grammar and have a decent vocabularly.
It's ideal if you have completed MT Advanced and Pimsleur III and will be a natural follow on. Level 1 is already released and Level 2 is in the pipeline. More levels will surely follow, so this would be very exciting for intermediate learners.
The course style is similar to the Pimsleur/MT style where you hear an English prompt and then a pause where you provide your answer. The Russian correct response is then provided.
What's great about the course is that it's very flexible in the way you work through the material. There's a listening section, the main lesson divided into sections, a practice section, a review section and a vocabularly review. You could complete these in different orders so if you wanted to test your vocabulary range, you could do the vocabularly drill exercises first and see how many you get right etc.
There's some useful tips for different ways of completing the course in the Course Companion. Talking of the companion, this is excellent and highly detailed. Not only does it contain a transcript of the dialog and all the Russian responses WITH STRESS MARKS, but also brief summaries of the grammar raised during the lesson. So if you have forgotten how to form certain grammar, you can have a quick look in the booklet without going through the audio again. Also, at the back of the booklet are tables of verbs conjugated in the three main tenses, which is a useful reference guide.
What's also nice about the course is that you are not treated like an idiot (like you are in Pimsleur) - Pimsleur and MT to a degree can move VERY SLOWLY through the material so you feel you are not making great progress. AudiaLearn, on the other hand, moves fairly quickly through material but provides great explanation of grammar points and plenty of examples and practice so you never feel stranded.
All in all a fantastic new course - probably the best course available now! Go get it!
