All-Audio Courses
If you've already know some basic words and grammar and have completed either
Pimsleur 1
or
Michel Thomas - Introduction
then
the next recommended courses are either
Pimsleur 2 and 3
or
Michel Thomas - Foundation.
You'll get a lot more practice with Pimsleur and the vocab range is larger than Michel Thomas, but Pimsleur costs far more money.
Software
For learning Russian with the help of your PC, I recommend
Rosetta Stone Levels 2 and 3
It's expensive, but probably the best software based learning resource on the market.
Books
I recommend the Collins Gems and Frequency Dictionaries. See Beginner - No Knowledge for details.
I also would suggest getting a copy of a decent verb conjugation listing book. These
are handy reference books when you're stuck with how irregular verbs change in a case. The
501 Russian Verbs or the
555 Big Silver Book
are good examples of these. Grammar? Oh yes, we don't want to overload ourselves with to much grammar,
but I love the little
Essential Russian Grammar guide
because it's compact, and only worries you with the smallest and most basic grammar. It's enough to
get you going without being too bogged down.
